“Dear Mr Adi Godrej, I am writing you this mail and telling you a story which would make you proud to the moon. And it has made us proud as it is a made in India product. We bought a 165 lt Godrej Refrigerator in Srinagar in 1976 from your dealer Kashmir Motor Corporation. This masterpiece served us till 1990 there in Srinagar when unfortunately we were compelled to abandon our home and flee to save our lives. In 1993 terrorists burnt our abandoned house with no occupants. Still we could not go to salvage our left over belongings after the fire. So I requested the surveyor to help and retrieve whatever was left there when he goes there to make the survey report. He arranged to send us some half burnt things and those which were salvaged by the fire fighters. This Godrej refrigerator was one article which got sent to us in our refugee tent at Jammu where we were living in 1993. We could not use it or check it as we had no means to do that. Slowly and steadily, we again started to build our life and shifted to Delhi to find means of earning. We transported this unused Refrigerator to Delhi and checked it in 1994 and were quite jubilant that it worked. Today, this Refrigerator, after 54 years is still working and we are using it . Moreover, the surprise is that we never repaired it in these 54 years . Not even toping up the gas, ever. Wanted to share this story with Godrej family so that we all feel proud of made in India.
